Oct 2, 12:59pm: This is shaping up to be what might be the most watched VP debate in history and is certainly going to be the most entertaining. Most of it will probably be "ha-ha" funny, but for those C-Span junkies out there like me a lot of it will be laughing through your tears funny. No matter your political ideology, if you have paid close enough attention these last few years you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

To try and ease the pain that is likely to come and celebrate the entertainment that I know is forthcoming I give you my Vice-Presidential Debate Drinking Game. Hopefully, if all or most of these are needed you won't be able to remember the train-wreck in the morning. Have fun, and remember to vote. (Seriously, voter registration for Missouri ends next Wednesday and if you have any doubt about your voting status go ahead and fill out a form.)

Moderator Gwen Ifill
If she mentions her upcoming book, take a drink.
If she doesn't mention it, take a shot.
If someone besides Ifill is moderating, finish your drink.
If she cuts off someone's time or says "That's all the time you have" a la the 2004 Veep debates, take a shot.

Senator Joe Biden
Drink every time Scranton is mentioned.
Drink anytime he says "Washington insiders."
Drink whenever he goes overtime.
Subjectively, drink every time he uses far too many words to answer a question.
Take a drink whenever he mentions being friends with McCain.
Take a shot whenever he says something unintentionally racist.
Two shots whenever he says something historically inaccurate.
Three shots whenever he says something unintentionally sexist.
Double the shots if the gaffe is intentional.
Finish your drink if he mentions "Beretta rifles" or shooting Obama.

Finish your drink if she mentions Russia's visibility from an island in Alaska that she has never visited.

Anytime someone is accused of being inexperienced, take a drink.

Anytime the Bush Doctrine is mentioned (by name) take a shot.
